Minnesnowta and other Thoughts

Here we are on December 11, 2010, one of the days where Minnesotans have tweeted and Facebooked about our massive snowfall than just about any other day in the past several years. I remember the first year I lived in the US, in 1996, we had so much snow that the corners were far over our heads. As a 14 year old, I was ecstatic to build our first fort and learn what this whole snow thing is about.

Well, now I'm 29 and I am married to a Minnesotan, meaning that we also live in Minnesota. Kerby is a rock star husband in MANY ways, but today, he's stellar because he's spent a couple hours out there snowblowing - not shoveling, mind you, and it has been past two hours - all the huge snowdrifts that have locked us in our home. In the meantime, I have cooked Mexican food, checked Facebook, read my Bible and now I'm blogging. Oh, the joys of being a spoiled wife!

On a different note, working in real estate with Kerby has been a blast, and we see this going at increased momentums for years to come! And on a real estate note, I find it interesting that rates are going up - while still at a low 4.75% this week, it makes it the best time to buy NOW before interest rates shoot up. Owning a home has NEVER been this affordable in most of our lifetimes - it costs about 15% of your income instead of the usual, like 30% to own a home. Cheaper than rent.

Hhhhhmmm, I guess a lot has changed since I was 14. You wouldn't have found me talking or blogging about a husband, interest rates or the housing market! :)
